Should we be giving diplomas to pussies?

Caught wet handed

I pity the maid who pulls the "clean up in room 205" detail. Memo to Mr. Chamberlain: KY is water soluble.

Web of Influence

A substantial essay regarding the blogosphere in the November/December issue of Foreign Policy.

A whiff of racism?

Finally, a voice on the left has questions regarding the comments Senator Harry Reid made on Meet the Press.
I think that this is yet another example of a democratic backlash against conservative people of color who dare to walk off the liberal plantation.

Let's play "soft balls"

A few weeks ago during the height of the Al Fajr campaign to take back the streets of Fallujah, Hugh Hewitt posted some very illuminating commentary concerning remarks that were made by Chris Matthews regarding a young U.S. Marine who executed a wounded, and unarmed insurgent during a mop-up mission in the heart of the city.Tuesday, November 16, 2004

On Hardball with Chris Matthews the day following the graphic footage of the Marine pulling the triger on his automatic rifle and removing the face of the wounded insurgant, Mr. Matthews posed this question to his guest former army colonel, Kenneth Allard:

"Well, let me ask you about this. If this were the other side, and we were watching an enemy soldier --a rival, I mean they're not bad guys especially, just people who just disagree with us, they are in fact the insurgents, fighting us in their country-- if we saw one of them do what we saw our guy do to that guy, would we consider that worthy of a war crimes charge?"

Hewitt countered:

"At what point do the folks at MSNBC say "Enough." This week we have seen the execution chambers of these "insurgents." It is being reported today that these "rivals" --they are not "bad guys" in Chris's view-- executed the woman who headed the CARE effort in Iraq. These are the brothers-in-arms of the murderers of Beslan and of 9/11. What possible excuse can Matthews offer up for this absurd moral equivalence, other than to say he got it wrong about the Vietnamese communists 30-plus years ago so why change now?"

Matthews comments should come as no surprise once you scratch the surface of the man himself. I would expect to hear such 'I know your pain' drivel from most of his baby boom piers in the print and T.V. media. I'm especially not surprised to hear remarks like this from someone who spent six years as a top aide to Tip O'niell, plus an additional four years as a speechwriter for Jimmy Carter.

Perhaps, Chris Matthews can describe his 'touchy-feely' blame America first mentality in his own words:

"If John F. Kennedy had not been assassinated, if the United States had not sent five hundred thousand troops into Vietnam, if I had not spent two years in the Peace Corps, my politics would be very different today. For it is that combination of realities that cracked my conservative orthodoxy."

Don't mess with Texas

Sorry, but I think that this is so cool!
Can you imagine if Kerry were in this position? "That s.o.b. Secret Service agent is ruining my damn dinner!"
The Euro's have got to be shell shocked right about now. They were shure that they would be bossing 'Lurch' around about this time.

Into the heart of darkness...

This is a great piece by David Broder. Seriously, does Maureen Dowd believe half of the nonsense that comes out of her mouth? Hardly!

Not your Prophets' Islam

Well, this is certainly no way to treat a lady! How long will the greater Islamic community remain silent about attrocities against non-combatants? Is this the same Islam which gave the West so many important contributions in which it would use to build its own great civilization?
